Spanish Literacy

LOCATION: Gonzales Adult School

Free instruction to improve basic Spanish reading and writing skills with goal of progressing to English.

Adult School ESL Classes (multiple levels)

LOCATION: Adult Schools

Free instruction to improve your English skills - for the workplace, to prepare for college, or everyday life. Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced levels focus on reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Classes in Salinas, Castroville, Chualar, Gonzales, Soledad, Greenfield, and King City.

High School Diploma/Equivalency Classes

LOCATION: All Adult Schools

Earn your High School Diploma or obtain an equivalent (HiSET or GED) at an Adult School. Classes in both English and Spanish available at some sites! Flexible hours available!

Citizenship & Civics Classes

LOCATION: All Adult Schools

Citizenship classes help students prepare for the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) interview and exam. EL Civics classes provide knowledge and skills that help students successfully navigate life in the U.S. Instruction is often integrated with ESL instruction.

Basic Computer Classes

LOCATION: All Adult Schools

Learn the basics of how to use a computer, the internet, and email. Advanced classes offer an opportunity to learn computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Some classes offer instruction in Spanish or English.

Forklift Certification

LOCATION: Gonzales Adult School

Paraprofessional (Instructional Aide) Certificate

LOCATION: Gonzales Adult School

Early Childhood Education Pathway

Obtain the skills & guidance needed to start a career in ECE. Apprenticeships & Jobs available.

High School Diploma/Equivalency Class

LOCATION: Monterey County Office of Education

Earn your High School Diploma or obtain an equivalent (HiSET) through this Independent Study program that lets you move at your own pace. Students meet with their assigned teacher once a week for one hour.

College ESL Classes

LOCATION: Hartnell College

College classes available to help you improve your English skills. Noncredit (free) and Credit (fees may apply) classes focus on reading, writing, listening, and speaking -- with an emphasis on written and oral communication skills to prepare adults for college-level coursework.

High School Equivalency Program

LOCATION: Hartnell - High School Equivalency Program (HEP)

HEP is a migrant education program designed to assist migrant and seasonal farm workers obtain their high school equivalency (HiSET).
